Welcome to UH Mānoa Theatre

The Department of Theatre and Dance at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa is internationally recognized for its unique multicultural approach to the study of Theatre and Dance. Its unique location in the middle of the Pacific allows for a rich exposure to theatre and dance from the East and West.

The Theatre program is well-known for its Asian Theatre productions and extensive course offerings, as well as programs in Western theatre, design, playwriting, and youth theatre. Course work goes hand-in-hand with productions staged in the 600-seat Kennedy Theatre and the intimate Earle Ernst Lab Theatre.

The theatre program includes 12 full-time faculty members who teach approximately 40 courses per semester. The theatre program has approximately 40 undergraduate majors, 38 masters candidates, and 12 enrolled PhD candidates. Students come from around the globe to study theatre at UHM.
