FACULTY AND STAFF PERMITS

UHM faculty, emeritus faculty, and staff are allowed parking on Upper Campus or in the Lower Campus Parking Structure with purchase of an annual or term (Fall, Spring, Summer) day permit; moped/motorcycle permit; or evening permit.
Faculty Permit
CURRENT FACULTY AND STAFF
Day permits are processed in the spring for the upcoming academic year. Faculty and staff may request parking permits through their deans, directors, department chairs, or administrative officers. Once approved, annual permits renew automatically, unless the Parking Office is otherwise notified.
  1. Faculty and staff members with approved or renewing permit status will be contacted by the Parking Office via email and asked to submit online your parking zone request, if any.
  2. You will be asked to designate method of payment in your online request.
  3. Many employees choose to pay for their annual parking through payroll deduction, taking advantage of UH’s Pre-Tax Qualified Parking Benefit Plan.
  4. The Parking Office works with your department’s Parking Coordinator and delivers to each department their annual allocation of spaces.
  5. The specific zone assignment for each individual is determined finally at the department level.
  6. You will have the opportunity to purchase your permit online and, if payment is received during the prescribed timeframe, your department will receive delivery of your new permit in early August.
  7. If you are unable to make payment by the end of the advance purchase period, you will be directed to pay for and pick up your permit from the Parking Office shortly before the Fall semester begins.
NOTE: Any and all outstanding UHM parking citation(s) must be settled before purchasing and/or receiving a parking permit.

NEW HIRES
Ask your Coordinator to complete the online application form. When picking up your permit from the Parking Office, you will need to show verification of employment or an authorized request from your Dean/Director.

If you wish to enroll for salary deduction, you may do so at the start of the academic year (Fall) only. You will need to complete a Form D-60. See your Personnel Officer for that form.

EMERITI
Emeritus faculty members may qualify for a parking permit, exclusively for their individual use to conduct business on the UH Mānoa campus. Application requires approval by their dean or director. Click here for Emeritus Parking Request.

LEAVE OR SEPARATION
If on an extended leave-without-pay or separated from service, please remember to turn in your parking permit to the Parking Office. Faculty and staff who purchased their permit in advance can receive a refund of its prorated value, less a $10 processing fee. For those using payroll deduction, please submit a D-60 cancellation form along with your request to the Parking Office.

If you prefer to retain your permit while on leave, you may do so with the permission of your department and after paying in full, in advance. Remember that your permit is non-transferable.
