Renovated food court opens Monday for first day of classes

HONOLULU — University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa (UHM) dining services provider, Sodexho USA, welcomes students back this fall with many new dining choices across campus, bringing new flavors and quality brands, both national and local, most requested by students, faculty and staff."Through our ongoing LifeSTYLING™ technology, which helps us know our customers eating habits and their likes and dislikes, we‘ve selected branded concepts to meet the unique needs of the UH Mānoa community," said Roger Reeves, general manager for Sodexho USA. "We feel confident that students food preferences will be met with the campus additions of Jamba Juice®, Yummy‘s, Ba-Le and Quick Zone."Among the new offerings this semester is Jamba Juice®, a local favorite and the nation‘s category-defining leader in all natural, made-to-order fruit smoothies, juices and healthy snacks. Jamba Juice® maintains its reputation by providing a healthy boost with made-to-order products, prepared with wholesome ingredients, in a vibrant environment by passionate people who care. For the first day of school, August 23, Jamba Juice® will open at 9:00am with a ceremonial blessing and an untying of the maile lei by Acting President David McClain and the Mānoa Chancellors office. After undergoing over $250,000 of renovations, Yummy‘s Food Court will open its doors for the first time on August 23 with such variety it will easily satisfy a range of tastes. Students, faculty and staff will now have the menu offerings of Yummy‘s Korean Barbecue, Lahaina Chicken, Mama‘s Spaghetti House, Bear‘s Drive-Inn and Cheeseburger Factory.After opening in early August at Hemenway Hall, Ba-Le has had impressive numbers with the UHM location - recording the highest sales of all its restaurants. Sales are expected to double with the start of school as they continue to highlight their signature sandwiches, summer rolls and iced coffee.Quick Zone, an exclusive Sodexho brand, is the new campus convenience store. Selected through market research, the most popular brands of snacks, bottled beverages, toiletries and microwave meals are sold at Quick Zone. Open daily from 4pm-12am, the newly renovated facility will also offer plate lunches and made-to-order pizza. Quick Zone is the first of two planned UHM stores and the first branded location to open nationwide.Hale Wainani dorm residents will be pleased to move-in with the addition of the Hale Wainani Café. This is the third campus location to offer the "We Proudly Brew Starbucks Coffee" brand, as well as smoothies, ice cream and other snacks.
