HONOLULU — The University of Hawaii commended Wendy Medeiros, a clerk typist at the UH Center, West Hawaii, and Marilyn Ito-Won, associate professor and counselor at Honolulu CC, for providing outstanding work to their schools.

Medeiros was awarded the Chancellor‘s Award for Outstanding Service. The award was established in 1984 by an anonymous donor and acknowledges community college staff members for outstanding service to the university. Medeiros has been working at the UH Center, West Hawaii since 1995 and has been praised by colleagues for her "outstanding, demonstrated and sustained work performance, service and leadership."

Ito-Won was awarded the Masaki and Momoe Kunimoto Memorial Award for Outstanding Contribution to Vocational Education. The Kunimoto award recognizes a faculty member or student from one of the UH community colleges for outstanding achievement and significant contribution to vocational and technical education. Demonstrating an unceasing commitment to her programs and students over the past 15 years, Ito-Won is praised for being responsive, reliable and possessing a high standard of professionalism.

Medeiros and Ito-Won will be recognized for their contributions to the university along with other UH award winners at a system-wide ceremony in September.
