More than 65 businesses, programs and colleges are featured at the annual Career College and Job Fair, presented Wednesday, April 20, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Leeward Community College (Leeward CC).

Sandy Hoshino, Leeward’s job prep coordinator, says the goal of the fair is to “provide access to college programs and employment opportunities from local businesses,” including current Leeward CC students and the general public. Hoshino continues, “The fair provides a venue for representatives to distribute information while also giving attendees the opportunity to explore and ask questions in a welcoming environment.”

This year the fair offers a free high school program, “Looking Beyond,” that encourages students to plan now for their future endeavors. The program features guest speakers, a financial aid presentation and current college students.

Through partnerships with GEAR UP Hawaiʻi and rotary clubs in Central and Leeward Oʻahu, many high school participants will be able to attend the fair at no cost to the school. The Hawaiʻi Army National Guard will provide refreshments and prizes.

Initiated in 2003, the fair has evolved into a successful annual event combining the efforts of high schools, colleges and employers. High schools interested in participating must reserve a space with the Leeward CC Job Prep Services office by calling 455-0240.

A list of participating businesses and colleges is online.
