University Of Hawai'i Specialist Publishes Articles On Planning For Long-Term Care Needs

HONOLULU-University of Hawai'i Cooperative Extension Specialist Ron Wallhas published three articles on planning for long-term care needs:

  • Exploring Long-Term Care Insurance (FC-54)
  • Considerations Regarding Long-Term Care Insurance (FC-54a)
  • A Closer Look At Long-Term Care Needs (FC-55)

All three articles are part of the Financial Connections Series authoredby Wall. Considerations Regarding Long-Term Care Insurance servesas a buying guide for consumers who are considering purchasing long-termcare insurance.

Since 1982, Wall has been a specialist with the Cooperative ExtensionService at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa where he researches financialissues of importance to consumers and provides financial education, counselingand training to a broad spectrum of community organizations, agencies andpublic clientele. He recently published a book, You and Your Money: Financial Reflections for a Lifetime, that is available on-line at the University of Hawai'i bookstore and all Borders Bookstores inHawaii.

During the past decade, he authored over 200 publications, founded theUniversity's Family Financial Counseling Program and initiated the FinancialCounseling Certificate Program to train financial counselors. In 1993,he was named "Financial Counselor of the Year" by the Associationfor Financial Counseling and Planning Education. Wall's articles on financialmatters have appeared regularly in the Sunday edition of The Honolulu Advertisersince 1996.

Wall has been involved in financial education and counseling for over25 years. He began this involvement with the Mountain-Plains Educationand Economic Development Program in Glasgow, Montana where he led the development,implementation, and testing of a life-skills education and counseling programfunded by the National Institute of Education.
