Dr. Adam Pack, assistant professor of biology and psychology at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo, presents a free public program on humpback whales at the North Hawai‘i Education and Research Center in Honoka‘a on Wednesday, September 8 from 6:30-8 p.m.

Pack has studied humpback whales in Hawaiian waters since 1994 and has followed them to Alaska. He and colleagues have traced the life histories of individual whales and have done groundbreaking research on their mating behavior.

The presentation includes a lab tour and underwater footage of humpback whale competitive groups from the whale’s perspective. Pack will also discuss opportunities for interested individuals to become involved with research at his new lab and learning center at NHERC.

RSVPs are appreciated. Call NHERC at 775-8890.
