UH West O‘ahu associate professor Dr. Derrek Choy and professor Dr. Ross Prizzia recently published an article in the peer-reviewed journal, Management of Environmental Quality. The article titled “Consumer Behavior and Environmental Quality in Hawai‘i” focuses on the relationship between consumer behavior and environment quality.

According to Drs. Choy and Prizzia, the role of consumer behavior in improving and protecting environmental quality is essential to sustainable communities. The results of the research, including a literature review and a survey of Hawai‘i consumers, supports the findings of other related studies indicating a positive relationship between environmental concern and environmentally friendly consumer behavior.
