The Center for the Study of Active Volcanoes at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo completes its series of free public seminars with “Hurricane Hazards in Hawaiʻi” on Saturday, May 15, 9 a.m., in UCB 100. A special additional workshop for Big Island teachers will continue until 3 p.m.
Learn how hurricanes form, the types of threats they pose and what you can do to prepare your home and your family for the next hurricane.
Speakers include UH meteorologist Steve Businger; Robert Ballard of the National Weather Service; Quince Mento of Hawaii County Civil Defense; Afaq Sarwar of Structural Engineers of Hawaii Association; and Don Thomas of CSAV.
