Leeward Community College-Waiʻanae (LCCW) presents its 2nd Annual Community Open House on Saturday April 10, 2010 from 1–4 p.m. The Open House offers a variety of workshops, performances, and informational activities.

The Open House offers the opportunity to meet and talk to current LCCW students, faculty, staff, and community partners. “We want the community to experience our vibrant and nurturing environment and hear what local students have to say about the high quality education and support they receive at their ‘community’ college in beautiful Waiʻanae," said Laurie Lawrence, LCCW coordinator.

Attendees can explore the digital media, Hawaiian studies, and teacher education programs, as well as the new Nana I Ka Lani Summer Environmental Science program, offered in Waiʻanae.

Leeward Community College-Waiʻanae, established in 1972 as part of Leeward Community College, collaborates with several Community Partners, such as MAʻO Farms Youth Leadership Program and Community Supported Agriculture, Waiʻanae Health Academy, and Ka Lama Education Academy. Attendees can meet and talk story with the organizations’ representatives.

Workshops on How to Apply for Financial Aid, Understanding College Placement Testing, and How to Apply to College are offered. Performances and art and photo exhibits by current students round out the event.
