Law School hosts "China Law Week with Professor Jerome Cohen"

UH Mānoa's William S. Richardson School of Law will celebrate the 80th birthday of New York University School of Law professor Jerome A. Cohen with a series of special events to mark the occasion. The public is invited to attend these events honoring a distinguished scholar and the founder of Chinese legal studies in the United States.

March 15
Place: Koi Room, Imin Center
Time: 4:00 p.m. (Reception to follow)
Lecture by Cohen, China, Soft Power and the Rule of Law, presented in partnership with The East-West Center.

March 16
Place: Law School Classroom 4
Time: 2:50-5:45 p.m. 
Panel discussion chaired by Cohen, Fifty Years of Chinese Law: Considering the Past and Looking towards the Future.
 
March 17
Place: Law School Classroom 2 (Reception at 5:15 p.m.)
Time: 6:00 p.m.
Intersections program guest lecture by Joan Lebold Cohen, Half the Sky: Chinese Women Artists in the 1990s and the Millennium, presented in partnership with UH Mānoa’s department of Art and Art History.
 
March 18
Place: Queen Lili‘uokalani Center (Reception to follow in room 412)
Time: 4:30 p.m.
Center for Chinese Studies and the Confucius Institute Distinguished lecture, Cohen, Half a Century of U.S.-China Relations: Some Personal Experiences.
 
There will also be a presentation of the Distinguished Teaching Award by the Confucius Institute, honoring Cohen for his contributions to Chinese studies.
