RCAC releases names of finalists for three seats on the UH Board of Regents

HONOLULU - The Regents Candidate Advisory Council (RCAC) began the recruitment process during Fall 2009 to attract qualified candidates for a Honolulu County seat, a Maui County seat, and a Student seat on the University of Hawaiʻi Board of Regents.
 
The outgoing regents whose terms will end on June 30, 2010 include James Haynes (Maui County), Chuck Gee (Honolulu County), and Grant Teichman (Student).
 
Upon completion of applicant interviews, background and reference checks, RCAC finalized the list of candidates, which has been presented to the Governor. Governor Lingle must select nominees for the Board of Regents from this list, and her appointments must be confirmed by the State Senate during the current legislative session.
 
The finalists for the three seats for a term beginning July 1, 2010 are:
 
City and County of Honolulu

  2. Chuck Y. Gee
Maui County
  1. Saedene K. Ota
  2. Ronald D. Montgomery
Student
  1. Jett J. Jasper
  2. Hannah S. Miyamoto
  3. Matthew R. Williams
Members of the UH Board of Regents as well as the Regents Candidate Advisory Council, who represent various constituent groups, serve voluntarily and are not paid.
