Leeward Community College student Don Oberheu was selected as a finalist in the 29th Annual College Photography Contest, sponsored by Photographers’ Forum. This year, there were 13,957 entries from the U.S., Canada and around the world for this prestigious annual student photo contest. Of these, only 100 were selected as finalists.

Oberheu's photograph will appear in the "Best of College Photography 2010" publication, which will be distributed to college libraries and instructors as a limited edition.

The selected 100 photographs will move to the next round of adjudication to select first through fourth place and honorable mention awards.

This is the second time a Leeward CC student placed in the finalist group. Lynette Rudolfo was a previous finalist. Both students studied with Wayne Muromoto who teaches Digital Photography classes at Leeward.

Muromoto encouraged Oberheu to enter the contest when he was enrolled in the ART 207D Intermediate Digital Photography class. “I encouraged all my 207D students to enter because I thought they all had a chance. Don took the initiative and entered and won,” said Muromoto.
