The University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo and the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru located in Lima, Peru, is currently accepting applications for the summer study abroad program, “Business and Culture in Peru 2010.”

Participants will spend four weeks in Peru, from May 16 – June 10, 2010, learning about the country’s developing economy and how it is opening doors for international trade. They will also have the opportunity to witness the daily social issues that Peru’s citizens face such as the informal business markets, unemployment, and extreme poverty.

Upon completion of the program, students will be awarded four credits from the Universidad De Lima, Peru, which has had over 10 years of experience hosting international students. The program will include two courses lectured in English, Business in Peru and Peruvian Reality and Culture. Highlight activities include a five-day trip to Cusco, and visits to the US Embassy, Industrial park of Villa el Salvador, Backus/ Yobel SCM, and much more.

The cost of the program is $3,290, which includes tuition, hotel accommodations (including breakfast) both in Lima and Cusco, course materials, and all in-country transportation. The fee does not cover international airfare, medical insurance, meals outside of breakfast, and personal expenses. Participants must register by the March 1, 2010 deadline.
