UH West O‘ahu awarded $50,000 Osher Scholarship for reentry students

UH West Oʻahu was recently awarded $50,000 from the Osher Reentry Scholarship Fund to assist students whose academic careers were interrupted and have since resumed their studies in pursuit of a bachelor‘s degree.



The Osher Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving quality of life through support for higher education and the arts. The foundation provides post-secondary scholarship funding to colleges and universities across the nation, with special attention to reentry students.



"We are pleased to offer the Osher Scholarship Fund once again," said UH West Oʻahu Chancellor Gene I. Awakuni. "The high population of non-traditional students at UH West Oʻahu makes us uniquely suited to providing this type of financial assistance and we are glad to offer this scholarship during these tough economic times."



The Osher Reentry Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance for tuition costs for reentry students ages 25 to 50 who have resumed their studies to achieve a baccalaureate degree after an interruption of approximately five years. To be eligible, students must maintain satisfactory academic progress and be enrolled at least half-time at UH West Oʻahu with preference given to full-time students. The maximum scholarship offered to each student is $2,000 per year.
