The Center for Career and Technical Education presents the 2008 Power of Pathways Conference

Honolulu, Hawai'i— With economic tough times, budget cuts and a tight job market, many current and prospective students, are looking to education for increased stability and job opportunities. The Center for Career and Technical Education presents the 2008 Power of Pathways Conference, a two-day event showcasing Hawai'i‘s Career Pathways System and how Career Pathways are helping to prepare students for future success through career exploration, connecting classroom education to future careers and creating partnerships to foster opportunities.

The conference will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, November 18-19, 2008 at the Hawai'i Convention Center.

The Power of Pathways Conference will feature workshops on the latest technical skills technology ranging from computer animation, 3D design and printing, interactive learning, and health sciences; improving outcomes for at-risk students; partnerships among high schools, community colleges, and businesses; and workplace skills essential for success. The conference is especially designed for Teachers, Administrators, Counselors, Registrars, or anyone who is interested in learning about Career Pathways implementation and future direction.

In addition to the more than 30 workshops, keynote speaker Ray McNulty, Senior Vice President of the International Center for Leadership in Education, will discuss how programs have responded to the challenges of ʻNo Child Left Behind‘ coupled with dramatic changes in the workplace and how successful programs have been able to adapt to these challenges.
