Dr. Ross Prizzia to present study on disaster management in Hawaii

UH West Oʻahu Professor Dr. Ross Prizzia will present his peer-reviewed paper "Disaster Management in Hawaiʻi: The Role of Coordination and Training" as part of a panel on public policies at the International Atlantic Economic Society (IAES) conference in Montreal, Canada, Oct. 9-12.



At the conference, Dr. Prizzia will present the results of survey data collected from local emergency managers in Hawaiʻi and discuss the state‘s unique experiences in responding to a variety of natural disasters, and how this provides opportunities to experiment with new methods of emergency management coordination and training. He will also chair the conference panel on direct foreign investment.



The IAES is an organization dedicated to increased communication among economists and others in related disciplines across the globe. Founded in 1973, the group promotes the dissemination of economic and financial research within the international community through conferences and publications.



Dr. Prizzia is chair of the Division of Professional Studies and coordinator of the Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management Certificate Program at UH West Oʻahu. His participation at the IAES conference is funded by a travel award from the Research and Training Revolving Fund of the University of Hawaiʻi Research Council.
