UH Manoa professor Alan Katz receives distinguished mentoring award
University of Hawaiʻi at MānoaAs a graduate chair and instructor of one of the core public health courses, Dr. Katz has the privilege of interacting closely with all public health students both inside and outside the classroom. He works closely with students to assess their academic and career goals and tries to chart the best trajectory for their futures.
As current chair of the Mānoa Faculty Senate‘s Committee on Student Affairs, Dr. Katz works with UH administrators, faculty and students on issues of importance to students across the UH Mānoa campus. A former recipient of the Regents‘ Medal for Excellence in Teaching, his influence continues to impact public health students at UH Mānoa and beyond.
He will be recognized for his achievements along with other UH award recipients at the annual Convocation ceremony to be held September 9, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Kennedy Theatre on the UH Mānoa campus. The ceremony is open to the public at no charge and no reservations are needed.
