The University of Hawaiʻi at Manoa School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene has invited deans and presidents of schools of nursing from Japan and several Southeast Asian countries to meet in Hawaiʻi next week to explore cooperative programs in research and education. Their meetings will be held in Webster Hall, UH Manoa, April 24-26.

This is the fourth year the school has sponsored the international meeting. Participants will attend from Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Australia, and Thailand.

"Given the significant nursing shortage in the United States and in other countries, collaboration among key educational institutions is essential to ensure a qualified professional nursing workforce," said interim associate dean Robert L. Anders. "We have been successful in cultivating professional relationships with key Asian universities to further our goal of making UH the premier U.S. nursing program with expertise in the region."

Among the items to be discussed at this year‘s meetings are strengthening international research and improving the health outcomes of people living in the region. For further information please contact the School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene at (808)-956-5421.
