Hawaiʻi storyteller Jeff Gere has coordinated five Sundays of storytelling tied to the food traditions and culture in Hawaiʻi and Polynesia. He and his group of storytellers will bring our foodways to life. The presentation titles and brief summaries follow.

July 13 — "We‘re Stewed!" A wild swing with Jeff Gere through myth, tales and tunes, dreams and nightmares.

July 20 — "Ono Writes: Local Grinds!" Jason Kanda will read the works of Amalia Bueno and Lisa Linn Kanae. Local artists present some tasty works by local authors.

July 27 — "Spicy Poundings!" The Endo Taiko Ensemble joins Dann Seki (actor-teller) in sharing personal and written tales and Slam poet-author-teacher Brenda Kwon recites her work.

August 3 — "Pre-Cholesterol Talk Story." Poet/teller Hina Kahanu, ghost lore expert Lopaka Kapanui and Kalaupapa‘s Makia Malo share personal tales and Adela Chu entertains listeners with a song about guacamole.

August 10 — "Edible Islander Tales." Tongan teller Emil Wolfgramm shares Polynesian tales and legends, ending with consumption of his ʻumu cooked power-bread using grated coconut.
