HONOLULU — Tickets for the 2008 Centennial Celebration with Distinguished Alumni are still available, but space is filling fast. The event will be held at 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, at the Sheraton Wakīkī. This year, the University of Hawaiʻi Alumni Association (UHAA) will honor its heritage by celebrating with all Distinguished Alumni Award honorees from the university‘s first century, while helping to lay a solid foundation for the next 100 years of scholarship at UH.

The event will mark the official launch of the UHAA Endowed Scholarship Fund, which is being established by UHAA in honor of all UH alumni as a way to give back to our alma mater by creating
opportunities for future alumni to excel. There will be a silent auction, a performance by slack-key legends George Kuo ‘78, Aaron Mahi and Martin Pahinui, and the evening will culminate with a
special appearance by Cecilio and Kapono. UH Athletic Director Jim Donovan ‘83, ‘96 will emcee the evening. Distinguished Alumni honorees are invited to attend the event at no charge. Table
sponsorships are also available for $1,500-$6,000, and individual seats are $110-$170. Proceeds from the event will support the UHAA Endowed Scholarship Fund.

The University of Hawaiʻi‘s Distinguished Alumni continue to enrich our community, state and nation. They have used their education to excel professionally, provide inspirational leadership to others and provide service to their communities. More than 700 of Hawaiʻi‘s most influential citizens are
expected to attend this historic evening of University of Hawaiʻi alumni pride.

About the University of Hawaiʻi Alumni Association

The UHAA was informally constituted in 1922, a few years after the first graduating class of 1911, and formalized into a system-wide umbrella organization for all UH-recognized alumni groups in 1988. Its members support the university, and UHAA sponsors events that showcase the university‘s excellence. Governed by a board of directors, UHAA includes a nationwide and international network of 39 affiliated alumni groups. The association‘s goal is to generate support for the university by encouraging interaction among UH graduates and friends. The UH
Foundation established the Office of Alumni Relations with the approval of the Board of Regents in December 2002. The Office of Alumni Relations works closely with the UHAA to serve the community of UH alumni and students in Hawaiʻi and worldwide.
