College-bound students can get required classes out of the way even before they start in the fall by taking summer classes at Honolulu Community College. Classes for the first summer session start May 27 and run through July 3. The second summer session is June 9 through July 18; third summer session is July 7 through August 14.

Students may take classes in administration of justice, anthropology, chemistry, information and computer science, geology, economics, English, Hawaiian studies, history, human nutrition, human development, math, political science, philosophy, psychology and speech. Students may also enroll in a private pilot‘s course.

Credits for summer classes may be used to satisfy Honolulu Community College requirements or may be transferred to the University of Hawaii system and many mainland universities. The tuition is set at summer school rates, so a three-credit class will cost a resident $543. Books must be purchased separately.
