The University of Hawaii at Hilo College of Continuing Education and Community Service (CCECS) continues its successful spring session with another exciting offering, this time involving the realm of musical theatre. Jackie Johnson, much beloved actor, director and drama professor at UH Hilo, extends an open invitation to join her backstage for an exclusive look at what goes into creating and staging a production, in particular her reworking of the famous musical Grease.

If you‘ve ever wondered about who determines which shows will be produced and what goes into the audition and selection process of the actors, or if you‘ve ever been curious about what it takes to design, build and maneuver the scenery, lighting, costumes and special effects, then this short class is definitely for you. Beginning April 1, Johnson will begin to lift the veil on many of those questions through stimulating, interactive and engaging classroom discussions, which will culminate in a matinee viewing of the actual show on April 13 at 2 pm in the Performing Arts Center.

"Behind the Scenes: Getting GREASEd" follows on the heels of Johnson‘s offering from last fall, "No Way I Hate Hamlet." Interested persons should contact CCECS at 974-7664 for more information and to register. Cost for this unique experience is $25.00. Registration deadline is March 28. Space is limited.
