Students from the University of Hawaii at Hilo College of Business Management and Economics recently participated in the second annual Innovation Tournament. The tournament is part of Stanford Entrepreneurship Network‘s Entrepreneurship Week 2008, which drew student teams from approximately 300 universities around the world.

Five teams of UH Hilo students participated, drawn from two courses: MGT 300, Principles of Management; and MGT 423, Business and Society, both taught by Dr. Emmeline de Pillis. The challenge was to use an everyday object — in this case, rubber bands — to create as much value as possible, and to submit a short video online to present their results.

The teams and their videos are: Lon Sugihara, "Dorm Bathroom Utility Hanger"; Jae Hyun Park, "Dreams"; Cody Osborne, Travis Sobers, Calvin Higa, Anthony Pilla, Alexia Delima, and Kari-Ann Barnes-Rolon, "UH Hilo Innovation Challenge — Team Rubber Band-It"; Le La, Akiko Takagishi, Rebekah McCoy, and Roine Gronberg, "Diversity"; John Rolf Roth, Lynn Marie Rodrigues, Sabrina Gramberg, Chad Yoshida, Stephen Benavides, Dawn Hariguchi and Janine Togikawa "UH Hilo Innovation Challenge — Breast Cancer Awareness."

All of the UH Hilo student videos are posted on YouTube and available at www.youtube.com/group/eweek.
