HONOLULU — At its monthly meeting held today, the University of Hawaiʻi Board of Regents (BOR) approved the appointment of Jim Donovan as the new director of athletics for the UH Mānoa campus.

"I am delighted that Jim Donovan will be serving as UH Mānoa‘s Athletics Director. Jim‘s vision, experience and ability, combined with his passion for UH Mānoa and bond with Hawaiʻi, make him a great match for ensuring the future success of our athletics programs," said UH Mānoa Chancellor Virginia S. Hinshaw.

Donovan currently serves as executive director of the Sheraton Hawaiʻi Bowl, and he received his BA from UH Mānoa and graduated with honors from the UH Mānoa Executive MBA program. As a student-athlete in 1981 and ‘82, Donovan played offensive guard on the UH football team and earned All-WAC honorable mention honors. He worked his way up in athletics administration, first serving as a graduate assistant football coach, baseball stadium manager, sports marketing director, assistant athletic director and associate athletic director.
