University of Hawai‘i seeking nominees for two systemwide employee awards

HONOLULU- The University of Hawaiʻi is seeking nominees for two system-wide employee awards: The 2008 Willard Wilson Distinguished Service Award and the 2008 President‘s Award for Excellence in Building and Grounds Maintenance. Recipients of the awards be recognized at the university‘s 2008 Convocation Awards ceremony held in the Fall.

The Willard Wilson Distinguished Service Award was established in 1969 by the Board of Regents in honor of retiring Board Secretary Willard Wilson. To qualify for this award, nominees must, among other qualifications, be a UH employee of at least 20 years and be recognized as having served the wider university community along with excellence in the candidate‘s department. The recipient will receive a Regent‘s medal and a $1,000 award.

The President‘s Award for Excellence in Building and Grounds Maintenance was established in 1986 to recognize a university employee who has exhibited sustained superior performance in a maintenance, landscaping, custodial, shop, or trucking position. To be eligible, nominees must demonstrate superior performance in ones assigned work as well as going above and beyond the call of the individual‘s duties and must aid in improving the physical appearance of any UH campus. The recipient will receive a certificate and a $1,000 honorarium.
