UH Manoa student leader honored at commencement

HONOLULU - Sean Kenji Burke of Honolulu, Hawaii, was honored with the Undergraduate Leadership Distinction Award at the University of Hawaii at Manoa Summer 2007 Commencement Exercises on Sunday, August 12, 2007.

The Undergraduate Leadership Distinction Award is a prestigious honor given to students who demonstrate exemplary service to their fellow students and the campus community. The award was created in Spring 2003 by the undergraduate student government, ASUH, to recognize exceptional undergraduate leaders who dedicate time and service throughout their college career.

Burke served with the Campus Center Board as treasurer and president for a total of three years. He also served with the First Year Advising Center as a peer advisor for one year and as student coordinator for two years. An active member of the University Music Program, Burke was the trumpet section leader of the Rainbow Marching Band for five years.
