Center on the Family Capacity-Building Program offers grant funds

HONOLULU — The Center on the Family (COF) at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa will offer public information meetings next month for all grassroots, community service and faith-based organizations interested in learning how to obtain training, technical assistance and grants that will provide opportunities to build their social services for Hawaiʻi‘s low-income and under-resourced populations. Up to 18 organizations will be selected to participate in the Compassion Capital - Hawaiʻi Moving Forward Program, a capacity-building and grant-funding project. Organizations will receive individualized organizational assessments that will identify areas in need of strengthening, technical assistance from a cadre of coaches, and the opportunity to apply for grants to support capacity-building initiatives. Organizations who have not received previous funding from this program are invited to attend informational sessions on the following days:Kona — Jan. 5, 2007, 1-2 p.m., Central Kona Union Church, 81-6614 Māmalahoa Hwy.
Hilo — Jan. 6, 2007, 9-10 a.m., Hilo Hawaiian Hotel (Mala Ikena Room), 71 Banyan Dr.
Kauaʻi — Jan. 8, 2007, 1:30-2:30 p.m., State Office Bldg. (2nd Floor Conference Rm.), 3060 Eiwa St.
Maui — Jan. 10, 2007, 1:30-2:30 p.m., Maui Community College (Laulima Rm. 225), 310 West Kaʻahumanu Ave.
Oʻahu — Jan. 16, 2007, 1:30-2:30 p.m., Central Union Church, 1660 South Beretania St.

Hawaiʻi is one of 10 states selected in 2006 to participate in this project.
