University of Hawaii at Manoa’s Hamilton Library received an award of $140,920 to support the continuation of the Hawaii Digital Newspaper Project for 2009-2010.
The Hawaii Newspaper Digitization Project, a part of the National Digital Newspaper Program, will digitize approximately 100,000 English-language newspaper pages between the years of 1880 and 1922 during the two-year grant period.
In addition to the Hawaii Ditigal Newspaper Project, Hamilton Library is involved in the Hawaiian Language Newspapers project to make select, heavily used Hawaiian language newspapers available online to students throughout the state of Hawaii.
