University of Hawai‘i at Manoa’s Hamilton Library received an award of $140,920 to support the continuation of the Hawai‘i Digital Newspaper Project for 2009-2010.

The Hawai‘i Newspaper Digitization Project, a part of the National Digital Newspaper Program, will digitize approximately 100,000 English-language newspaper pages between the years of 1880 and 1922 during the two-year grant period.

In addition to the Hawai‘i Ditigal Newspaper Project, Hamilton Library is involved in the Hawaiian Language Newspapers project to make select, heavily used Hawaiian language newspapers available online to students throughout the state of Hawai‘i.
