During September 24-28, 2018, four public hearings were held to receive testimony on the initial draft of the proposed chapter 20-26, Hawaiʻi Administrative Rules. Taking into account input from the public during the September hearings, revisions were made to the initial draft and in spring 2019, the University of Hawaiʻi posted an informal draft of the rules seeking comments which would help shape the rules that were considered by the Board of Regents at the April 18, 2019 Board meeting.

Public notice was published on April 28, 2019, for four public hearings on the proposed Chapter 20-26, Hawaiʻi Administrative Rules, entitled "Public and Commercial Activities on Mauna Kea Lands". The hearings will be held on the following dates, times, and locations:

  • Monday, June 3, 2019, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Mānoa Elementary School, 3155 Mānoa Road, Honolulu, Hawaiʻi 96822
  • Tuesday, June 4, 2019, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Waiakea Elementary School, 180 W. Puainako Street, Hilo, Hawaiʻi 96720
  • Wednesday, June 5, 2019, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Waikoloa Elementary and Middle School, 68-1730 Hoʻoko Street, Waikoloa, Hawaiʻi 96738
  • Friday, June 7, 2019, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Pōmaikaʻi Elementary School, 4650 S. Kamehameha Avenue, Kahului, Hawaiʻi 96732

In addition to submitting oral and/or written testimony in person or by mail, as instructed in the April 28, 2019, public hearing notice, you may also submit written testimony online by either emailing uhhar@hawaii.edu or by filling out the form below.

The deadline to submit testimony during this phase of the rule-making process is Friday, June 7, 2019, at 11:59 p.m. However, you may also provide testimony at the Board meeting that will be held on this matter. Board agendas and materials are posted at http://www.hawaii.edu/offices/bor/archive/.

Any testimony that is submitted verbally or in writing, electronically or in person, for use in the public hearing process is public information. Please do not include private information that you do not want disclosed to the public.
