All Japanese graduate programs are recognized WICHE regional graduate programs. Residents of Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming are eligible, upon admission, to enroll at resident tuition rates.

M.A. in Japanese Language & Linguistics

M.A. in Japanese Literature

The MA degree is offered in the fields of Japanese language and Japanese literature. The program is designed to provide students with advanced professional training in the history and structure of the chosen language and the literature of that language. Within each area of concentration, the student may choose to emphasize either language or literature. The program is also intended to provide professional training and practical teaching experience for future teachers of Japanese. Ph.D in Japanese Language & Linguistics

Ph.D in Japanese Literature

The Ph.D. in East Asian Languages & Literatures is offered with concentrations in Japanese linguistics and literature and comparative studies exploring the relations of a language and literature of East Asia.
