Waikiki Aquariums Distinguished Lecture Series Featuring Dr. Sonia Rowley

October 27, 6:30pm - 7:30pm
Thurston Memorial Chapel, Punahou School 1601 Punahou Street Honolulu HI

DESCRIPTION
Tropical Pacific coral reefs are central to marine biodiversity, with continuous sea level cycles throughout the millennia having shaped what we see today. Yet, descending into the "Twilight Zone" we see a different world of corals, typically forests of gorgonian (sea fan) corals.  Dr. Rowley is a postdoctoral research associate at the Department of Geology and Geophysics, University of Hawaii; Chief Science Officer for the Association for Marine Exploration; and research associate at the Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum, who will take guests through these low light habitats and share her research discoveries in an underwater world historically difficult to reach.
