Pacific Journeys: Trans-Pacific Migrations, Encounters, and Exchanges
A Conference on World History at the Crossroads of the Pacific, Honolulu, Hawaii, February 17-19, 2017 The World History Association Regional Affiliates for Hawaii, the Northwest and California are jointly sponsoring a conference on world history on the “the meeting place†island (Oahu) of Hawaii with a view to promote world history in Oceania, the Pacific Rim, Hawaiian and Asia-Pacific Studies. Join us on this journey through multiple themes in World History such as: Trans-Pacific Encounters and Exchange; Asia-Pacific Diplomacy and Security Regimes; Indigenous Peoples, Movements and Languages of Hawaii, Oceania and the Pacific Rim; Migrations and Immigration; the relationship between Asia-Pacific Studies and World History. Proposals on any aspect of World History scholarship and teaching are also welcome. This is the initial call for papers. The Final Call for papers will be October 1, 2016. Conference details will follow. Inquiries may be directed to Prof. Vera Parham, Local Arrangements Chair at vera.parham@mycampus.apus.edu. Papers should be submitted for consideration to the Program Chair, Prof. Marc Jason Gilbert, at mgilbert@hpu.edu.
