Brandt Chair Lecture Series On Comparative Hawaiʻi-Polynesia Temples From HWST 675: Huli Heiau Hawaiʻinuiākea

Students enrolled in HWST 675: Huli Heiau Hawaiʻinuiākea traveled with faculty and staff to Tahiti during summer 2014, visiting and documenting 30 temples on Huahine, Moʻorea, Raiatea, Borabora and Tahiti Nui. This four-lecture series features film and photos, and compares Hawaiian heiau and Tahitian temples, considering their orientation to the stars, associated gods and cultural significance.

Monday, March 2: Raʻiatea and Tahaʻa, with Andre Perez & Mokihana Maldonado

Monday, March 9: Borabora and Moʻorea, with Noʻeau Woo-O'Brien & Wahineʻaipōhaku Tong

Monday, March 16: Tahiti and Fare Hape, with Puamana Waialae & Kaleʻa Silva
