The Italian Mountain: 60 Years of Change, Challenges & Gaze at K2

October 23, 4:30pm - 6:30pm
Mānoa Campus, Crawford 105

Before mountaineering became technologized and commodification made it profane, mountaineering was a “sacred” act. This seminar explores the nature of pilgrimage(s) to and gaze at K2, the second-highest mountain on Earth and will conclude with the K2 travelogues and photography of Hawaii based freelance travel photographer and mountaineer Guy Sibilla.
