10+1 Best Reasons to like CP Violation

October 23, 3:15pm - 4:45pm
Mānoa Campus, Watanabe Hall, 112

Department of Physics and Astronomy Colloquium: Prof. Yossi Nir, Weizmann Institute, Israel, to speak on "10+1 Best Reasons to like CP Violation."

Abstract:
CP violation refers to interactions that distinguish matter from antimatter. It plays a crucial role in cosmology, and provides stringent tests of the Standard Model of particle physics. I describe these aspects of CP violation, with emphasis on the progress in our understanding of this phenomenon thanks to intensive experimental effort in the last 15 years.

This talk is intended to be accessible to UH physicists in all sub-fields.
Professor Nir is the co-author of a popular book on CP violation
