United States-Pakistan Relations: Insights from Journalists on the Ground

April 18, 12:00pm - 1:00pm
Mānoa Campus, Hawaii Imin International Conference Center, Garden Level

Now in its fourth year, the EWC Pakistan-US Journalists Exchange has served to increase public understanding of the relationship between these two countries by bringing together journalists to engage in comprehensive dialogue and a study tour.

Twelve Pakistani journalists visited Washington, DC, New York City, and Columbia, Missouri and ten American journalists visited Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi to meet with policy makers, government and military officials, and members of the business community and civil society. The program's goal is to promote reporting that is better informed on the critical issues affecting the US-Pakistan. To this end, the program has been successful in breaking down stereotypes and promoting dialogue on both sides.

Several journalists will report on their impressions and the insights gained from their travel and meetings. They will also respond to questions and observations from the audience.

This year's participants represent print and broadcast media from Peshawar, Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, and Quetta; and from US cities including Brooklyn, Colorado Springs, Boston, Austin, Washington DC, San Francisco, Portland, and Las Vegas. The program is funded by the United States Embassy Islamabad Public Affairs Section.

This event features lunch, which costs $30. For the registration form and other details please download event flyer here. Please RSVP by April 15.

On-campus parking will be free that day because it is a state holiday.
