“Classical and Contemporary Japanese Drumming”

The National Organization for Traditional Artists Exchange, the University of Hawaii Manoa Department of Music, and Taiko Arts Center proudly presents the concert “Classical and Contemporary Japanese Drumming,” on Friday, August 23, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. at the University of Hawaii’s Orvis Auditorium.

Featured artists include professional Kabuki musician Saburo Mochizuki; one of Tokyo’s top contemporary taiko (Japanese drum) soloists, Yuu Ishizuka; shamisen (Japanese lute) artist and nagauta (long song) singer Akiko Miura; with Honolulu-based taiko artist Kenny Endo; and the Kenny Endo Taiko Ensemble.

Tickets prices are: $25 (general admission) $20 (seniors 65+, military, UH Faculty, and Staff, JCCH members) $15 (youth to age 17, UH students)
