White Coat Ceremony for new MD students

July 19, 6:00pm - 8:00pm
Site to be determined

A celebration for entering students who have earned admission to the John A. Burns School of Medicine. Families watch as the jubilant students are cloaked with the short white lab coats that identify them as medical students.

Reaching all the way back to the 5th century before Christ, medical students traditionally recite the Oath of Hippocrates at the beginning of their studies and again when they are awarded the time-honored title of Medical Doctor.

The Incoming Class of 2017 at the John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) will experience that tradition during their White Coat Ceremony on July 20, location to be determined. The class is led in the oath by Dr. William Haning, President of the JABSOM Alumni Association.
