Bollywood Mondays: 'Mumbai Meri Jaan' (2008)

April 22, 3:30pm - 6:00pm
Mānoa Campus, Marine Science Building 114

On July 11, 2006, several bombs exploded almost simultaneously on the Mumbai Suburban Railway, killing over 200 people and spreading waves of fear across the city. These local passenger trains carry over a million Mumbaikars every day, and thus this act of terror affected the lives of countless residents.

'Mumbai Meri Jaan' (Mumbai, My Love) is a movie about how the bomb blast affected the resilient city and its diverse residents. It is a story of fear and hope in humanity, and is a salute to the spirit of a city.

The film stars Irrfan Khan, Soha Ali Khan, K.K. Menon, R. Madhavan, and Paresh Rawal, and won several Filmfare Awards, including the Critics' Award for Best Movie. It is the final screening of the semester in the 12th UH Bollywood Film Series.
