International Hermeneutics Conference

February 23, 2013 - February 24, 2013
Mānoa Campus, Imin Conference Center, Pacific Room

This International Conference is convened here for a threefold purpose: 1) to clarify and explore contemporary Western Hermeneutic theory and practice on the basis of philosophical hermeneutics with its challenges and issues; 2) to show how onto-hermeneutics has been developed from the Yijing tradition in critical response to philosophical hermeneutics of Heidegger and Gadamer and in prospect of reciprocal theoretical appropriation and integration; 3) to inquire how both philosophies of the hermeneutic are needed to provide a basic foundation and methodology for interpretations of Western and Chinese Philosophical Classics, but not limited to them, toward a genuine communication and a good understanding.
