An Illustrated Lecture

Professor Avraham Faust, Bar-Ilan University, Israel The time of Israel's foundation and emergence of its ethnic identity are among the most disputed problems in biblical archaeology. The archaeological and biblical accounts often disagree. The lecture will examine the archaeological evidence in order to learn about the processes that accompanied Israel's ethnogenesis and then discuss the changing nature of the relations between the different groups that existed in Canaan at the time (Israelites, Canaanites and Philistines.
