Public Health Faculty Colloquium Series

Dr. Stefan Keller will present "Drinking among adolescents and young adults - What's the problem?"

While alcohol has traditionally been consumed in many cultures, we now know that over-consumption can lead to severe short- and long-term health consequences. This presentation will look at alcohol consumption in young adults and adolescents in the context of varying social norms and will focus on the role of binge drinking and its relationship to other health risk behaviors. Dr. Keller will present findings from several recent studies, including some brand new data from local studies in Hawaii, and hopes that these will lead into a lively discussion about what the problems are, what the solutions could be, and what our role as public health professionals should be.
