History, Law and Medicine Lecture

Prof. Jim Mohr of the University of Oregon will give a free and public lecture entitled "Dent v. West Virginia: The Strange Enabling of an American Medical Profession." Dr. Mohr will discuss the famous 1889 Supreme Court case which interpreted the 14th Amendment in new ways which affected doctors and other professionals. The lecture will focus on the arguments of the case and the ways that law, history and medical practices changed after the decision.
