Aloha Labor Hawai'i Forum

The students, faculty and community members are invited to a forum focusing on Labor in Hawai'i featuring two leaders with extensive experience in the power and promise of collective bargaining for justice and equality.
On October 15, at 12:15 p.m. in Hale 218, and 1:30 p.m. in Kalama 103, at Maui Community College, the forum, Labor in Hawai'i: History and Hope will feature a living legend of labor and a current leader sharing their perspective on peoples campaigns to improve the daily living of workers in Hawai'i.
Ah Quon McElrath, a labor organizer with decades of experience on the front lines of history, and Randy Perreira, the AFL-CIO Hawai'i president, will speak on Labor in Hawai'i: History and Hope. McElrath will cover the historical significance of labor in the social justice movement in Hawai'i. Perreira will speak about the recent initiatives and important challenges facing labor in Hawaii.
The Labor in Hawai'i forum is sponsored by the University of Hawai'i Professional Assembly (UHPA) and the Hawai'i Institute for Human Rights. For more information contact Joshua Cooper at joshua@hawaii.edu.
