George Kahumoku Jr's Sea Talks Seminar

October 8, 12:00pm - 1:30pm
Kapi'olani Campus, Ohia 118 Auditorium

This is the second OSA Guest Speaker: Musician, George Kahumoku Jr., from Maui. George will discuss his love for the ocean, Hawaiian culture and his music.

A Grammy Award winner, George will translate and discuss the meanings of Hawaiian songs relating to the ocean. Kahumoku has been called "Hawaii's Renaissance Man": master slack key guitarist, songwriter, world-wide performer, Lahainaluna High School teacher, former principal, sculptor, storyteller and farmer.

He is so in tune with his islands that he has won several state and national awards for his work with the land.

Hawaiian language and Hawai'i Studies class students and teachers are especially invited to attend this unique seminar where the audience will be interacting with George to create a new Hawaiian song or two.

You do not want to miss this interactive seminar by Hawai'i's Renaissance Man, George Kahumoku, Jr.!
