Bollywood Afternoons: 'Kahaani' (2012)
October 13, 3:30pm - 5:45pmMānoa Campus, Sakamaki Hall A103
'Kahaani' (Story) is a tense thriller that unfolds on the colorful streets of Kolkata (Calcutta) during the festival of the goddess Durga. The tale revolves around the search of a pregnant woman, Vidya Bagchi (Vidya Balan, in a Filmfare Best Actress award-winning role), for her missing husband. The mystery thickens at every twist and turn, and Vidya's mission is only made more difficult by having to navigate a patriarchal world. Made on a small budget, the film went on to be a hit at the box office and on the awards circuit.
This is the third movie in the 14th UH Bollywood film series, running on occasional Tuesdays and Thursday afternoons this fall. For a copy of the full semester film series schedule, please see the contact information below.
