The Politics of Tenure: Becoming a Member of a Community of Scholars

July 24, 12:00pm - 1:15pm
Mānoa Campus, Kuykendall 106 Events Room Add to Calendar

Faculty are invited to attend this workshop, which focuses on the intricacies of tenure decisions. Research shows that very few faculty come to the tenure decision point with a case that would be uniformly judged as either tenurable of completely untenurable. This presentation will discuss how tenure decisions are coupled with highly complex social and political processes of tenure that revolve around specialization, peer review, and department politics, among other factors.
