Born in Shen Yang, China, 1969, Pan Xing Lei holds a BFA, 1992, from The Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing. He has had solo exhibitions and performances in New York City, Hong Kong, and Beijing. Pan received the Art Omi International Artists Residency, Ghent, New York, 2002; the MacDowell Colony Residency and Grant, New Hampshire, 2001; and the Hong Kong Arts Council Special Project Grant, 2000.

Dark Humanity is a bronze cast of a plaster rubberman which began as a reaction against hard sculpture and completes the circle from soft to solid form.
