Physics and Astronomy

A professor of physics and astronomy at UH Mānoa, Sandip Pakvasa is an internationally recognized theoretical physicist whose research encompasses a wide range of topics in particle physics and particle astro-physics. In the course of his work, Pakvasa looks to innovative experimental tests for cutting-edge theory.

Pakvasa has authored or co-authored more than 200 peer-reviewed journal articles, many of which are highly cited. His many provocative proposals have had significant impact on the progress of theoretical physics, and led to the implementation of new high-energy physics experiments.

Pakvasa has had a long and fruitful career with numerous inclusive and far-reaching contributions to particle physics.

The Regents’ Medal for Excellence in Research is awarded by the Board of Regents in recognition of scholarly contributions that expand the boundaries of knowledge and enrich the lives of students and the community. The board also awards the Regents’ Medal for Excellence in Teaching.
